what do i need to do to my jeep in order to just coast through the worst conditions?

i just purchased a 1980 cj5 with a 401 javilin motor, dana300 transfer case and rear/front lockers w/31x10 tires. small lift im thinkin just a couple inches. im not familiar with 4wheel drive, but for some reason i do nothin but bog and spin in the mud. ive got the hub locker u have switch manually and street tires. is the lockers and tires my problem? thanks for any advice
