What do i do with my dog's wound?

I have a chihuahua and she once got a cut below her ear. I dabbed it with a cotton ball (as it was bleeding) and actually i put some neosporin on it. she stopped whimpering after i did that so if your dog is showing pain try that, as it will help your dog and not hurt it. just to give you peace of mind, this happened about a year and a half ago and my doggy is fine :)

I have a 1/2 lab/chihuahua and I just noticed that he got a cut on his right leg, not sure where it happened or how it happened. It's not bleeding but I am not sure when he got this cut either.
Do i just leave it alone or cover the cut? Please advise. Thanks
