My female canary laid 4 eggs two of which have now hatched and are doing well. Last time she had eggs hatch the male canary (we think) chucked them out of the nest. So this time we have put him in a separate cage while she tends to her chicks. She is doing a great job. There is no distress evident with either canaries.
The chick are about 2 weeks old.
When should we try putting our male back in the cage? Is he likely to attack? I am so scared he will come along and kill them. When is the best time to return him?
Also do we take out the 2 eggs that did not hatch? And the nest is full of poo but I have not disturbed it for fear of her abandoning the nest. I have left it all alone.
