What do I do if my fish (South American Cichlid) went blind?

I have had a Green Severum (South American cichlid) for about 10 years now and must say he's looked better than he does right now. I've found him unable to 'find' or eat his food, I think because he may have gone blind. How do I feed him if he can't see it? I've been somewhat successful waiting for him to attempt to feed (because of sound and learned behaviors) and dropping it into his mouth however, this is not an easy task. He's lived a good life and is definitely a survivor (out lasting several moves, state to state etc.) any thoughts?
