i've always had farm dogs so i've never really encountered this problem before. behind the front legs of my cocker spaniel there seem to be some little mats, obviously i haven't been brushing her well enough and will have to do a better job, but what do i do now that they are there? she's a cocker spaniel so in about 3 months time i will need to take her to the groomer to have her ears shaved but would they get worse and should i go now and get the mats cut off (i don't feel confident enough to cut them without butchering her hair and traumatising her) thank you
