What direction should I take?

I am a 24 y/o male in a post-baccalaureate (I have a B.A. in History from Rutgers) program for teacher certification in NJ. The certification I'm working towards is K-12: Social Studies, but I like subbing for elementary school a lot, and I have a feeling being a male will give me a leg up in the job market for elementary school teachers. Should I stick with K-12:Social Studies and shoot for trying to get a job as a high school history teacher (which would be harder to find a job) or go for elementary? I'm really considering going for whichever would be easier for me to find work because of the economy. If anybody out there could help me out, that would be great.
