I am interested in buying a Toyota 5AFE engine to put in my VW bug, and I need to know what direction (clockwise or counterclockwise) the engine rotates during normal operation. Otherwise I might end up with one forward gear and 4 reverse gears. Haha, what a trip that would be!
It will fit, it is is a baja so there is plenty of room back there. There are adapter plates to mate non-aircooled vw engines to vw transmissions. It won't cost too much, as a JDM 5AFE is under $300. I have the resources and skills to do the swap, but I just need to know this one bit of info to give it the go ahead.
