Hi every body
As you may know most of the ancient civilizations they imagined sky to be a solid dome(Egyptians believed to be made from iron and sumerians form and Sumerians believed to be made from tin)
But I have heard something recently which was somehow strange for me.the ancient people(mostly Babylonians and Sumerians) they thought that there is some kind of ocean or sea above the sky and sky has doors that when it's gonna rain these doors are opened and it stars raining or in some religious books like the bible they thought that when the spirits and ghosts of dead people want to go to the next world the doors of the heaven are opened and they pass by.
My question is who did they believe the sky to have doors and gates while they saw no doors being opened ?
How did they explain that,cause if sky it has really doors and these doors are opened something must be visible ?
