What did Lincoln contend Douglas' ultimate goal was in regard to slavery?

I'm writing a short essay on the Lincoln-Douglas debate. I found a good website with the entire debate on it but it's lengthy and I find it hard to follow at times. I'd really appreciate some help with this. Based on the second Lincoln-Douglas debate in Freeport, Illinois, where did Lincoln believe Douglas stood with slavery?
 
In the second of the debates, Douglas was led to declare that any territory, by "unfriendly legislation", could exclude slavery, no matter what the action of the Supreme Court. "This Government was made by our fathers on the white basis . . . made by white men for the benefit of white men and their posterity forever," he said.[12] Lincoln pointedly denied Douglas' assertion that the Declaration of Independence did not include minorities.[13]
