Well to me it basically says that freedom is not free and that many men have died to create the freedom that we have and many more will die to ensure that the freedom that our founding father created never dies. I also think it talks about how we should never forget the ones who have died for that freedom and to ensure they didn't die in vain.
When I was in the 5th grade we had to memorize the entire Gettysburg Address and stand-up in front of the entire class and recite it. It was on of the hardest things I think I did that whole year. Also in the 8th grade we had to memorize the National Anthem and the Bill of Rights and write them word for word on a test. For the National Anthem if we missed more than two words then we had to get up in front of the entire school on a stage, during an assembly and sing it. That really motivated me!
