what does the sun orbit, i am supposed to explain how the earth sun and moon can align and form an eclispse. help?
 
the sun orbits the galactic core of the milky way.

in the core there is a super massive black hole (its called Sagittarius A*)

the sun take 227 million years to make a complete orbit around the galaxy.

humans have been around only for 8 million years.


don't worry about the black hole. it's gravity won't pull us in, we are simply too far away from it.

the sun orbiting the galaxy doesn't have anything to do with eclipses.

The explanation for eclipse does nt require Sun orbiting some thing. Earth and moon are enough.
Sun goes round the milky way galaxy but it takes several million years.Go to enchanted learning.com/eclipses.
