What creative materials can I use to make a sculpture that I can find at home?

I have to make a sculpture; however I don't want it to be just made from "paper mache" because I am quite sure that other people will use that too.
I am stuck for ideas! I really want my sculpture to turn out different and colourful, so any ideas or even tips or methods would really help.
