What could this be??

 I'm going to try and describe this the best way that I can. Ok, ever since we have moved to our new home (different state), my allergies have been what shall I say...noticeable. Ok, now I have this congestion or phlemn that seems to sit in my throat or somewhere close to where I THINK I can cough and clear it, but sometimes I have a dry cough and can't get the congestion cleared. It's not a lot of congested but enough that where when I breathe sometimes, it rumbles and I can't seem to clear it.

Now, I woke up this morning and on my left side, at the top or right on my rib under my sternum (I think it is) it hurts. It hurts when I turn certain ways, but I can pinpoint it exactly where it is when I cough. My question is...what's causing the discomfort on my rib or whatever it is sitting on? I do have shoulder and back pain all the time, but I don't think that is any relation. My other question is, what can I do to get the congestion to go away? I feel fine otherwise but like I said, asthma and allergies have been so different here. I think I am dealing with 2 different situations here. We don't have insurance yet so we can't see a Dr. so I thought I would try and get some feedback from someone who has experienced this before. Thanks for all who respond, I sure could use the help!

You have moved to a new area and as a result are experiencing new allergies to different pollens. You need to take a good OTC antihistmine with a decongestant. Drink plenty of fluids and make sure that you are on the antihistamines 24/7 to give them a chance to work. That should help take care of the phelm in your throat. It may take a couple of days to take effect, but don't give up...
