Animated movies are always released each year, but the majority of them never seem to make at least enough money to be considered a real blockbuster, much less reach the numbers of Harry Potter, Spiderman, Star Wars and other Summer tentpole-style movies, unless they're from Pixar or the Shrek series.
Even Happy Feet, which had impressive legs for a 40M+ opener and little-to-no competition to face, and Ice Age 2 and Simpsons, which both had huge openings, all managed to fall short of the 200M+ domestic mark.
The only ones I can think of that actually managed to reach that mark was Aladdin, Lion King and the Shrek series.
I know Kung Fu Panda has crossed the 200M+ domestic threshold, but not by much, so what would it take for another animated non-Pixar movie to reach those kind of numbers?
