What could be wrong with my 1986 Chevy Suburban truck?

I have a 1986 Chevy Suburban truck 2500 and the idle on it is constantly getting stuck on full throttle and I have to punch the gas pedal to bring it back down but then it'll go back up again and stay there until I punch the gas pedal again.
I know the idle is supposed to be high while it's warming up but once it's warmed up isn't it supposed to remain at a normal idle?

I think the choke might be getting stuck and we sprayed carb cleaner into it and that seemed to help for about a week but now it's doing it again.

What could be causing this any ideas?
Thanks to both of you I really appreciate your advice.
I'll have that looked at ASAP.

What Antheus said might be true....try disconnecting the throttle cable at the carb and see if the problem goes away by starting the vehicle and manually operating the throttle under the hood. If it does, the throttle cable is probably worn internally and causing the throttle to stick at high idle. Sometimes the cable can also get arced and burned internally if the engine ground straps are missing or frayed which causes electrical currents to ground through the throttle cable. If the problem persists, you could have other problems with the choke sticking or a fast-idle solenoid sticking or needing adjustment/cleaning. Also check the throttle return spring to make sure it's not broken or weak.
