I am having problem with the third gear only. It seems that when I shift to third gear it does not engage, I have to try once more and then it snaps in to the gear. It started doing this about two months ago, I haven't had a problem before...I am not a mechanic, but I have the repair manual for this car and I usually when it has minor problems I can fix them. It seems that to me that there's nothing wrong with the transmission, because once the gear is in, then it's OK. Could it be a problem with shift lever assembly, the select or shift control cables? I wonder if somebody had this experience before. Of course I can take it to the transmission shop, but doing so besides being expensive, I'll miss a chance to learn a little bit more.
