What could be the problem with my bike?

I've just bought a peugeot jetforce c-tech (50CC), just to start out on and get confidence. It starts fine normally, but a few times, the electric start hasn't worked for me, it just splutters and looks like it's going to die on me? Luckily I have kickstart, but I shouldn't have to use that should I? The bike is an 06 reg.
 
well i had a similar problem with my 100cc.
I realised it wouldnt start and stay running unless i gave it enough throttle.
Try reving it when in neutral, if its an automatic just hold the brakes and slightly rev it.
