What could be causing the code P300 on my 97 Chevy Truck?

My friend has a 97 chevy truck and he has put a lot of money into it so far and it still has the check engine light on. we went to autozone and they told us that is was cod P300 and it was a random misfire. We have reaplaced everything except the fuel filter and the coil. He is so pissed because the light will not go off. Any help and answers will be appreciated.
 
even though you repaired itm does not mean the idoit light does not go off. You have to manual reset it. Some cases seen just holding the break pedal down would reset the oil light. I don't know your case.
