what could a guy have to talk to you about that's good and bad at the same time?

I've been friends with this guy for a little over 2 years. We work in the same place. He kinda hinted to me first that he liked me and initiated us doing things like 3 times going to the movies alone, going out for dinner and going to a friend's wedding together. He even tried to kiss me at a friend's party,but I rejected him at first. Then I realized I had feelings for him too and when he asked me out again I said yes. We used to hang out as friends with other people before and his ex girlfriend hated me because she thought we had a thing but we didn't(they've been broken up for about 5 months now). Anyways we've went on 3 dates alone so far and they went well. He initiated the first two and planned them and for the third he asked me where I wanted to go. He won't let me pay for anything. We haven't done anything but kiss alot, and he seems to really respect me. We've both made it clear that we like each other, and on the third date he said we should be in a relationship but then he didn't talk to me for like a day after that. I asked him to go with me to my friend's halloween party about a week ago and asked him if he still wanted to go and he said that he did but we should talk first. When I asked him if it was good or bad(what he wants to talk about) he just said it's kinda bad but good at the same time but he can't talk to me about it over text message or the phone. What could be up?I'm trying to think positively but I don't know. ...Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
