What do you personally think contributed to the loss of Black femininity? What type of women are typically held as role models for Black women? I cannot help but feel cheated in some respects...society tells us to be strong and independent...why? Because they know that most of us will never have access to the luxury of having a loving husband and family...

I feel that perhaps we have it backwards...maybe if we made it a point to teach Black women to be good homemakers...good at domestic management that in turn will help them achieve a more holistic level of success...

Lets be honest...I feel that most Black women try so hard in the workplace to be on top because they feel thats the only chance of achieving that American dream they desperately desire...
I know my thoughts are all over the place...I just wanted to have a discussion...then I am done with yahoo answers...
A lot of times in comes at the expense of having a family or even neglecting your primary duties as a wife...
Thats definitely not me...she sounds angry that cocoa lady...
Working hard doesnt make one unfeminine...not at all. However in the Black community...Black woman are taught first and foremost to be independent...virtures such as learning to cook well, clean WELL, and manage a house are often put on the back burner from what I observe...

I am sorry but no man wants to marry a complete slob...doesnt make him feel good coming home to a dirty house.
Apocalypse: Okay I am Black but that was so rude! White women DO have a lot of substance....many do work and take care of a home just like anyone else. I mean...I am just being honest...not only are they considered the standard of beauty...they dont have the racial baggage to carry around. They also tend not to have a problem being accepted in most social circles...

I have to be honest with myself because after liking a White guy for the first time I had to think about these issues...
