What colors should I paint for my room?

So I will move to another house soon and I can't decide what colors for my bedroom. I was thinking about hot pink but my mom said its not gonna look good because it's too dark. Sooo what do you think. Give me your opinion.
* My bedroom is not big and I don't want to to be white because it looks reallly boring
 
Darker colors make the room seem smaller.
Bright, loud colors like hot pink might get old really quickly. Find a neutral-ish color that will match with anything you decide to decorate with.
 
Why don't you find a really pretty bed set that you love and choose a color from there? It's nearly impossible to decide on a color -- because there are MILLIONS! -- without something for inspiration.
