Any specific (Benjamin Moore paint) color ideas on what I can paint my kitchen walls and cabinets and ceiling? I have a beige/white ceramic floor, off white counter tops and cheap wood cabinets that I also want to paint. My kitchen is large (currently red), and I want it to look bright and airy. In the kitchen, the opposite wall goes right into to family room -which also needs to be repainted so I will have to pick a color that coordinates with the other side of the kitchen. Also, should I use a glossy paint on the cabinets?

A warm yellow colour is nice in a kitchen and goes with the shades of your floor. It also goes with any shade of beige/cream/white that you may choose for the family room.

It's very hard to make glossy paint look flawless if you are going to do the job yourself. Only go for glossy paint on the cabinets if you can use a professional to do the job! If you do it yourself, find a paint that is 'forgiving'....

I think maybe cream or magnolia? an off white sort of colour, i know it's boring and kind of generic but it could look nice :) and the room that goes into the family room could be a dark red or chocolate brown, like a feature wall? and glossy paint is easy to clean but can look tacky, eggshell or silk paint is always nice though :)

We redid our dungeon kitchen lol from dark cream walls, dark dark wood cabinets and a brick floor to:

I painted all the walls white and all the cupboards white Except for the doors which we painted a Navy blue. I use red as an accent and have a cookie jar and cannisters in red, a colorful ceramic rooster sets on top of the microwave. I use red and white gingham (checked) table cloths with solid red place mats with white trim around them. So basically it is white with Navy and then red accents - turned out so cute and cheery. There are also Red apple print chair cushions.

The curtains are white with a navy window pane check and the valance is a small check of red and white. The valance is very ruffly. It went from oh so dull to bright and cheery and CLEAN looking - very fresh. I love it and I hope it gives you some ideas.

One thing that was a lot of work was if you paint wood cabinets white you really need to paint all the insides of the cabinets too. We also replaced all the drawer pulls and the knobs on the doors of the cabinets.

We live in an old farm house by the way. :)

Good luck!
