It looks almost brown/orange. I'm having a smelling/burning smell come from under hood. Somebody told me it could be a head gasket and to check the color of antifreeze? They said if it was a murky brown that could be the problem. However, I'm reading online and antifreeze is not just green anymore.

it should be a green color. if yours is brown then that,s rust and the whole cooling system needs to be flushed out. mine is green. i use prestone anti-freeze.

If it is brown you definitely have a problem. Brown Antifreeze could either be rust or oil/hydrocarbons leaking into your waterways.

I'd guess that you have a blown head gasket. An expensive repair, but it would be worth it on your car.

Antifreeze will almost definitely be green if you bring your car to the local repair shop. I've only ever seen blue as another color for antifreeze. Additives to your antifreeze, such as water wetter, are red, but I dont think that would drastically change the color because they are added in very small quantities. Hope this helps.
