What coldwater fish should I keep?

I am planning on getting a 40-55g tank in the summer, with coldwater fish. Locally, I can get sunfish like bluegills (yes, it's legal) and I also have interest in fancy goldfish. Are bluegills and, say, Ryukin goldfish compatible? How many could I have in the tank? Thanks for your answers and please include any other information you think I should know.

I myself have a 50 gallon tank and have kept bluegill but when they see another species such as a minnow, goldfish, or a picasumus they become curious, or teritorial and will nip at/kill the fish especially with gold fish which will be a temporary food source so no it won't be safe to keep fancy goldfish in a tank with sunfish.

Get a Shubikan gold fish, and A comet goldfish, I have that combo and they love each other in my 30g tank. But the shubikan *was* a little mean to the comet untill just recently.
