...recommend I read for an analytical paper? The book also cannot be on any high school or j.r. high school reading list.It needs to be good enough for a ten pg analytical paper. Please help! I'm having trouble finding something not on any of these lists! Thanks in advance

Les Miserables, Notre Dame de Paris (aka The Hunchback of Notre Dame), or The Man Who Laughs, all by Victor Hugo. I guarentee there's enough in one of those to fill up ten pages worth of analysis, and they are relatively uncommon on reading lists, especially The Man Who Laughs.

(A large part of Les Miserables does chronicle the French uprisings of 1832, but it is an entirely fictional account when it comes to characters and specific events. I don't know how that would fit in with the "not based on history" requirement, I just want to put that out there.)

If you're looking for something a little less time consuming, try The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux. A horror, tragedy, mystery, and Gothic romance in one book makes for good analytical material.

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is also a good choice, dealing with the nature of man, fixation with power and playing God, and the general attitude of society.
