I remember readin part 1 a few years ago --- just now ma getting a memory itch -- I can't recal much of the details- anyway--
The premise was real world American children were being transported to this fictional fantasy relam when they found certain gem-stones. One was a girl (who unlike in most fantasies of this genre, this real world person cooperated with the villains) and a boy named Adam also from the real world.
Throughout the book they kept mentioning the the fictional world's history as there being a "War of Roses" or something - two primary kingdom were feduing.
It was from a rotating viewpoint, third person I think.
