I just filled my 30gal tank with freshwater. Added decor, plants, and some fish. The ammonia level is reading just below the bright yellow. Its more of a dull yellowish tan. What chemical is good to lower the ammonia and keep it at 0?

I would avoid chemicals altogether, the usual products such as API ammo-lock only mask the ammonia, they don't remove it completely. The most effective way to remove ammonia is by performing more water changes.

The filter suff calles Ammo-Chips is good to add to your filter cartriges and they sell stuff @ Petco/Petsmart for that just go there and ask !

You shouldn't have to.

The filter in your aquarium (IF CYCLED) should take care of the ammonia by turning it into nitrItes.. then nitrates. THE ONLY thing you should have to do to your water is a water change.

Since you obviouslyu didn't cycle.. do a large water change. Simple.

If you had cycled your tank, this wouldn't be happening. Don't rely on chemicals to fix things when you mess up. Do frequent 30% water changes until the ammonia is sufficiently diluted. Then do regular 20-25% changes to keep on top of it. This is a much healthier approach for your fish than dumping in chemicals that they'll have to live with.
