What is different about toyota accelerators systems from before this problem popped up .I had a 1991 toyota Camry No accelerator problems ,it had 175,000 mile on it before it was traded in .My 1995 toyota 4runner had no problems like that of the newer cars . It has to be something that was changed in the engineering of these cars accelerators systems. I bet the problem is so simple that when they really take a close look at whatever changes they made in the last 2 to 3 year they are going to be really embarrassed .One of the main processes of trouble shooting is to examine the last changes made before the problem showed up .
ken I understand what you are saying but what I am saying is that there has to be something that was done different between the earlier models and the later models that cause this problem .It may not just be one change but maybe a group of changes . I bet that if they were to go through those changes one at a time they would find the causes of the problem .I am not saying that I know better than they do .I've got a back ground in aircraft repairs and 25 years of chemical plant operations ,both these jobs involve trouble shooting by process of elimination .That doesn't make me a toyota mech.but I do know that if you make a change and soon after that change a problem comes up ,you need to consider the effect of that change in trying to solve the problem This problem didn't just jump up at toyota ,it was caused by something they changed because the older toyotas do not have this problem .
