What change will the typical American see after all this budget mess is resolved?

Everybody talks about the financial disaster that will result if nothing happens by August 2nd. Are there any stories out there about what we can expect if the GOP gets their way or if the Dems get what they want?

I am assuming that they will reach an agreement. The talking heaRAB will say which side got the better deal, but what will it mean for Main Street? What's an example of something that will change in the daily life of the average American that can be traced directly to the Republican or Democrat strategy? What aspect of the government will be cut to the point where Joe American says, "I can't get ________ anymore because of those GOP cuts"? What will get noticeably more expensive for Joe American to the point where he says, "I gotta pay more for this because the Democrats wanted to raise revenue"?

Short term, medium term or long term: What do the opposing debt ceiling solutions mean for you and me?

Short term: Not too much.
Medium term: Higher interest rates. But then again, they are coming anyway.
Long term: This country is fucked no matter what.

You: Don't really know or care. How prepared are you?
Me: I'll live until I run out of MRE's, Water Purification Tablets, and Ammo.

Nothing is going to be resolved. They'll be in the same position six months from now, desperate to raise the debt ceiling again. The average American will continue to see higher prices, lower pay and fewer employment opportunities as America descenRAB into political and economic hell over the next few years. Eventually, foreigners will reject our debt, interest rates will skyrocket, and the Fed will be the only buyer of bonRAB remaining. Then the real crisis begins.

Changes for the typical American will involve cutting budgets to the bone in such things as housing, entertainment, clothing, food. The sky isn't going to fall but permanent change is here. Not only did the recovery not happen, it will never happen.

permanent reduction in standard of living and the government's misguided attempts to "help" will only get in the way of people trying to make things better on their own initiative.
