what causes tonsil stones?

^That is great that you had good luck with it! I've heard about tonsil removal from two people. One of them will openly admit they do NOT have high pain tolerance and they said it was pretty bad, but I can imagine that the person would be in a lot of pain for many things due to how they are. The other person had it done many years ago, and perhaps pain management is much better these days. So glad to hear that it isn't always a bad experience like the others told me! I guess it's like any surgery.. it can be really tough or go really well!

Yes, I think it depends on the person, but also how you take care of yourself afterwards. Lots of rest, lots and lots of fluids is the most important. If you get dehydrated you have many problems and it prolongs your recovery. As for pain management, the prescription pain meds made me feel awful and I switched to liquid tylenol and that was so much better. I was up and around and feeling really good by day 5.
