This has been ongoing for some time now and has only gotten worse. Randomly and for no obvious reason i get bouts of sharp stabbing pain in my thumb, just above the most distal joint and centered under the back of the nail. It feels like I'm being stabbed with an ice pick and the area is also very very sensitive to any sort of pressure. Cold weather makes it worse, but the pain can strike any time; hot or cold, day or night. There is no swelling and no stiffness in the joint; range of motion is normal. Alive and Advil do nothing; I may as well be eating M&M's. I am not a diabetic.
