What cause my mileage to stop working not moving ? On a 1997 Ford Expedition. It this normal or is bad?

Because the vechile have 169k,miles it been 3 month already in still at the same number!

The truck tell you how fast you are going but the miles stay the same!

Yes I do alot of driving

The truck tell you how fast you are going the mph thinfg work!

Your speedometer tells you how fast you are traveling. (the "mph thing")
Your odometer tells you how many miles you have driven. (the mileage thing)
No, it is not normal for either one to cease operating.
Check out your dealership for a replacement if you really need one that works.
Check out a local junkyard if you are capable of replacing the odometer yourself.

And next time you ask a question, please do some research for the proper terms, otherwise your thingy may get confused by your equipment. Even if English is a second language for you, nothing beats learning.

The odometer works off a set of cables linked to your transmission. There is also a set of magnets that make the gears turn in sync. If anything gets out of line the odometer will stop turning. The big problem is that in order to keep people from rolling back the miles the entire system is factory sealed and the only way to fix it is to replace the entire instrument panel in your dash board.
