What careers involve the kind of math I enjoy?

I am a freshman at a community college. Right now, my major is journalism. But, considering the fact that I really am not into News, I would rather stay away from news media--even if it does involve writing, which I actually somewhat enjoy. Thing is, writing is what I am most confident in. Strang thing is, it is not my best subject. All throughout school, until my junior year of HS, I decided to actually try in my classes (lol). While I was previousy a C student, I started making all A's because of my effort, a record I am still holding today. Since then, I have become very goal oriented. You give me a task, and I will do everything in my power to finish it to the best of my ability.

Well, I had never beed good at math, or so I though--I mean, I never tried. But since my junior year of high school, math has been my best subject. It is also the subject I enjoy most. The strange part about it is that I am not good with calculating things in my head, or figuring out the meaning behind theories and equations and stuff--nor do I care why equations are the way they are. I simply love useing formulas and solving number patterns like series and sequences. It is like a puzzle, the only class that I find entertaining, yet nerve racking....(I have taken pre-calc in HS, I am taking calculus next semester (freshman in college) and I am excited).

I am a well rounded person as far as interests go (except for History...bleh). I really want to enjoy my career. I really WANT a career. I have worked so hard, and I enjoy working hard in school. I want this work to pay off...I just wish I could see my longerm goal...

In sum: this is my question: Is there any career that applies patterns, formulas, and Algebreac, even Calculus mathematics?

Thanks so much for any advice!!!!
