What Canon DSLR body produces sharp/vibrant images for around $1000?

I'm looking for a new camera to replace my Canon EOS Rebel XSI (450D), which I'm going to trade in to upgrade to a better quality camera. (which I'll probably buy used)

I'd like a camera that best fits these specs:
• Be at most $1000 for the camera body alone (I might stretch a bit depending on if I really like the camera, but I can't afford much more)
• Able to attach the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 and Canon EF-S 18-55mm lenses
• Sharp and very vivid colors
• Reduced Noise (especially in low-light situations)
• I do not care about "how professional" the camera feels or if it is weather proof
• Does NOT have video recording
• At least 10 MP
• More than 3 frames per second (5 would be really nice)

Other than what's mentioned I don't really have any preference.

I was looking at the Canon Rebel T2i but I feel like I'd be wasting money on the video recording, since there isn't much difference between the T2i and XSi aside from that.

Any suggestions and reasons as to why they'd be an improvement from my XSi would be much appreciated! Thanks! :)
I'm not going to go into the whole Nikon/Canon debate, but I'm definitely staying with Canon seeing as I already own two Canon lenses and don't want to get rid of them.
