It really depends on where you are. Here in North Carolina, I'm cleaning out the potatoes and peas and planting winter squash, pumpkins, and bush beans.
We start cool season fall crops in the heat of summer- July and August. Full grown cabbage, broccoli, and lettuce would fry in the heat of summer, but we start the seeds in summer so they mature in fall. Further north, the time to start fall crops may be sooner.
It isn't too late so plant tomato and pepper seedlings.
