what can i put on the internet?

If I wanted to make a website similar to those like peopleofwalmart.com and lamebook.com what am I allowed to post? I don't know if I'd get in trouble for posting things on the internet that came from another person (like an invitation to a party or a letter of some sort). Are there rules? Can I get sued? Any ideas?!
