chances of deployment with a "desk job? We have been best friends since 6th grade-now seniors. He plans on making this a career and I support his decision to join the Army but I am so confused about how everything works. We started dating in December but have been on and off since our Freshmen year. We have already talked about staying together when he leaves for Basic in Fort Jackson SC. Can anyone explain to me what happens after AIT (its in Georgia) and what his chances of deployment are right off the bat or the likelyhood that he stays in the US. I know that I am not going to leave him just because he joined the Army? Please don't tell me how hard this is going to be or that I should just find a new guy because I do not want to do that. Thank you in advance for your time and answers.

I have never and will never think of cheating on him. This may sound stupid but we have talked about deployments (which he still has to go to basic in July) and he was worried that I would leave him bc he was so far away and couldn't be with me all the time. When someone breaks up with someone overseas or cheats on their soldier while he is away makes me sick. I couldn't imagine cheating or leaving him because if and when he goes away at least I know he will be coming back to me. I know this is going to be extremely hard, but if he wants to be in the military I am not going to dump him for it. He is serving and protecting our country and that makes me extremely proud.

I know he is going to deploy and all I just want to know is the chance greater that he will be stationed here or overseas and how likely is it that he would be put in an infantry unit?
