...have grown out of? They are a little battered through normal use but otherwise usable. Would like to give to a good cause. I live in the South London area. Any ideas?
you could donate them to charity like you said, which would be a great idea. Or to an orphanage.
Or theres a site called freecycle, where you list what you are giving away, and someone comes and picks it up if they want it.
It's a good way of recycling things
congratulations on wanting to give them away instead of selling them.
the fact that they are a little battered doesn't matter to a child who has nothing.
as i come from the land down under i have no idea in the UK but there are some good answers here. another option might be a child care centre or a church.
the fact that some organisations may sell them doesn't matter because the money they get goes to the needy anyway.
--- Freecycle them (http://www.freecycle.org)
--- Donate them to a local daycare
--- Donate them to a thrift shop whose proceeds support causes
--- Donate them to a school in an inner city
--- Donate to a church, asking that they be given to children who might not have toys.
--- Sell them on ebay through Mission Fish (if you have smaller items)
--- Keep an eye out when local organizations are having a fund-raising tagsale and donate them for that.
--- A pediatric ward might like to have them also
--- Check out links I provided also
