What can I do in NYC for my 18th birthday?

I love New York, so for my 18th birthday my parents said i could go into the city with my 5 best friends, but im stumped on what to do. My birthdays in January, so its cold. I was thinking Dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe? but i want to do something else too, i just cant think of anything.
Any Suggestions? and please if you know of a cooler restaurant please let me know
