I recently got two new parrot cichlids ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood_parrot_cichlid ) and I noticed that whenever I turn on the light or come near the tank, they tend to swim to the corner.
When I turn off the light and walk away, they gradually release themselves from the corner and swim like usual. However, I don't want to close the light all the time, because I read that fish need 12 hours of light. Even if I open the room light (which isn't very bright) they still tend to go on the corner.
What can I do about this? I've had the fish for two days now.
