I went to a University in the fall of 2005 for one semester. Couldn't afford it, so I dropped out and came home. Now I guess it has gone to collections, and I just received a phone call from someone saying I needed to call them within 24 hours otherwise they would submit the paperwork for my "pre legal" situation with the county. I also know that I have only received one letter about this debt and that they are trying to charge me +$5,000 dollars more than the initial tuition.
What can I do about this? Can I get rid of it? Are they just trying to scare me? I need help. I have no real form of employment, and can only afford just enough to get by.
