What can I do about a bad Craigslist Car Dealer?

Ok so this past weekend I was in an accident and the car was totaled. The insurance did not cover the damages. So to get a quick car for work, I had to call out on Monday and reserve the whole day to purchasing a quick car with whatever I could save up in two days.

I logged on to Craigslist, checked out a few bad lemons. Finally, I came across a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville. When I looked at the ad, the ad stated that the car had low mileage and no mechanical problems at all, and was a great car in and out. When I test drove the car, it drove perfectly; The dealer did advice me, however, that I need to replace the rear shocks asap.

After purchasing the car, I found out on the title the car was salvaged after a bad accident, but since I saw no problems and it was late at night I decided to make the purchase for 1,700. The following days leading up yesterday, I had the car checkerd by a mechanic. The hood was missing the opening lever in the car, and had to be opened some ghetto way where I have to reach my hand under the hood to open it. The car needs new brakes and shocks. The under the hood area has missplaced parts, meaning fuses were put in wrong areas, and the engine was left exposed.

The wheel becomes very hard to turn when driving at a slow speed, such as in a parking lot, and makes it a safety hazard to be able to turn the car. The brakes have to be replaced in front and back. The shocks still need to be replaced. This morning the car had a hard time starting when I tried backing out of my drive way, it would start up fine but soon as I tried moving the car died and I had to restart. Also, when I had to get something out of the car last night the light did not go out for a while no matter how many times I attempted to shut it off.

The point is.. what can I do to get my money back, either all of it or some of it? I met with the dealer, he said he will not give the money back. Is there possibly a free way I could go about getting my money back so I could reinvest it into a better car?

Thank You
