what can cause shakiness?

I have shakiness in all my muscles. the best way I can describe it is it's as if I have a really mild case of the shivers all the time. I'm not particularly weaker than normal, but I'm not cold, and I don't have a fever. nor do I have low bloodsugar. And while after noticing the symptom, I've been feeling highly stressed, I wasn't before noticing.

I saw a medical professional(nurse practitioner), but she didn't seem to get it, and said I had muscle weakness from being sedentary. but there's no way that could affect my jaw and diaphragm, is there? She told me to drink and exercise, and she drew blood to test for hyperthyroidism. and then told me to go home and come back in 5 weeks...

What else could this be? After a few days of water and exercise making no difference, I'm ready to rule out 'muscle weakness' but I don't know where to go from here. Parkinson's? I'm 25 years old, male, and 98 lbs (recently lost 7 pounds says the scale) I'm 5'0", so 98 lbs isn't that terribly thin.

Your hyperthyroid tests should come back in a week, if not sooner, call them and get the results. That "come back in five weeks" thing is ridiculous:rolleyes:. If you are hyperthyroid make an appt with a endocrinologist, if not, see your GP for further testing.

Hyperthyroid does cause muscle weakness and the shakes. It can also cause heart palpitations, heat intolerance, a revved up metabolism (eating more, losing weight), bulging eyes, double vision, both restlessness and fatigue, trouble sleeping, anxiety, increased sweating, goiter . . . among other things.

Essential Tremor is the most common type of neurological tremor. It can start at any age but it's usually in people over 65. If you feel you have these symptoms, see a neurologist. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000762.htm
