what camera should i buy for time lapse recording using stil images.?

I want to buy a camera for time lapse and don't want to spend allot maybe $200. I am not apposed to using software not really sure. I want to be able to plug it in and let it go till the MEMORY card fills.
I am a beginner so any links would be helpful.
i am really excited about time lapse and i want to get started right away.
 
There are not too many P&S cameras that have build-in time lapse features.

What choices are you considering ... perhaps with that knowledge, one of us can make some realistic suggestions.

The camera that has built-in time lapse that I own are both DSLR's which are far outside your budget, like maybe 12.5x your budget

I think what has happened is you have heard of a concept using a camera and hope that for just a few dollars, you will be able to accomplish that goal. Rarely does this happen. Usually when you want to do some thing "fancy" the cost of the equipment out stretches your budget.
