I don't care if it is a purebred of crossbreed. I'm just looking for a good dog. I've owned dogs before, so this will not be my first. I'm not really sure if I want something that is really dominant or aggressive like Pit Bull or a Rottweiler. I currently live in an apartment and do not have a yard. I don't have any children and don't plan on having any in the near future. I don't really care what size of dog, but I want one that doesn't shed or sheds very little. I would also like a dog that is good for people with allergies. I have chronic allergies and don't want a dog that is going to make them worse. I can groom the dog as much or as little as it needs, but can only walk the dog on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays because of my work schedule. I would also like a dog that will bark if someone tries to break into my apartment and will alert me to suspicious sounds. I'm a single woman living alone and that would be very comforting to me.
The breeds I am considering are a Bichon Frise, Bichon/Yorkie, Bich-poo, Biewer, Bolognese, Cairland Terrier, or Cairmal.
I'm not allergic to dogs. I have allergies in general, but I'm not specifically allergic to dogs. What is wrong with walking a dog 3x a week? There are people who don't walk their dogs at all. If it is a small dog that doesn't need a lot of exercise, I don't understand why this would be a problem. It's not like I won't spend time with and play with the dog. I just work long hours. A Bich-poo is a cross of Bichon Frise and Poodle.
I like Malti-Poos. I think they would be a great dog for me. They are super cute! That is a breed I'm definately going to look into.
Also, how is walking a dog 3x a week compromising their health? These are the days I exercise and I'm in great condition. I know some breeds need to be walked or ran every single day. That is not the type of dog I'm looking for though.
Dog Section Regular: No. All dogs do not shed. My last dog was a Cairnoodle. Well, he was really the family dog. He past away last year. He was 20 years old. He did not shed at all and I was not allergic to him. Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherd Dogs, and Pugs bother my allergies though. The Cairnoodle did not.
