What breed of dog is this?

This is my Dog Buddy, he came from an Aboriginal township and we think he was mistreated. He is only two years ols but they had him for about 6-7 months, hes has some kind of hunting dog background we believe but we are not sure. Hes frightened of loud noises and kids with footballs or soccer balls, also how can we help train him up we have had him for 6 months he was previously living with my dad who tried to help but did not have much time so now we have him, he has a beautiful playful nature and loves his walks! so here are some pics any additional training, behavioral info would be much appreciated, thanks
