What branch of the Military should i join?

I am seventeen and in high school. When I graduated, I plan on enlisting in the Marine Corps. However, my mom, wants me to go in to the Air Force. I like the Marine Corps, because i want to go for Tank Mechanic, and the Air Force doesn't offer that, since the marines are a smaller branch and dont have the man power, they train me to work on all the mechanical parts of the tank, while in the army they have more man power, so they have one person for engine, one for transmission and so on. She wants me to go into the Air Force because she thinks it is safer, and that i can get more education out of it. She also doesn't think i can make it in the Marines. I am not the most physically fit guy but i have a year until i would go to basic, and i know i would be ready, i mean it will be tough i know that, but i believe i can do it. She also thinks that the marines would change me while i was in basic. I just always wanted to be a Marine, and i think the Marines are the best thing for me, they will give me a technical skill. leadership, education, health care, and after four years if i want i can re-enlist and make a career out of it. I know the Air Force offers most or all of the same things and i do respect the Air Force and all the branches of service but, i feel if i am going to do it, I wanna be a Marine.
