An American publisher HPBooks did a really good series of how to guides, "how to rebuild your SMALL-BLOCK FORD" by Tom Monroe (ISBN 0-912656-89-1) I think is the one you're after.
Covers all years & models 221 - 351W. There is an interesting section on parts identification/interchangeability as well, and how to source parts.
I found my copy in a 2nd hand bookstore.
