I'm by no means a big bike enthusiast, but I want to start commuting by bicycle and public transportation. I live in Los Angeles (Silverlake/Los Feliz).
I want a fast bike that is good for the city.
I was considering a road bike, but I don't think that'll be good for my commute. There's not a enough bike lanes on my route, and I'm told that a road bike can easily be damaged by riding on sidewalks and driving over/off curbs.
A bike dealer recommended a Giant Sedona.
Would that be able to handle an urban terrain? Pavement, streets, sidewalks, curbs?
Is it a somewhat fast bike, and will I have a good time commuting on it?
Any other recommendations? Thanks.
