What benefits are there for asp.net compare to php?

In my opinion asp.net tries to make things a lot more complex. What real arguments are there for asp.net ?
I can do everything in php that I can do in asp.net//or am I wrong.?

also isnt asp.net MVC 3 model is more or less like php?


ps. I programmed for asp.net and php but only for few months..so I am inexperienced
